Children’s Theatre of Elgin offers specialized workshops and other classes to all interested children, typically in grades 2-8.  The workshop curriculum has included such topics as: 

1. -How to audition, including music preparation
2. -Script interpretation
3. -Improvisation techniques
4. -Definition and use of acting and stage terms
5. -Character development
6. -Scene study
7. -Basic musical dance steps
8.  -Vocal dynamics 
9. 

Our instructors give children the opportunity to learn at their own pace, explore and enjoy theatre through creative play and interact in a small group setting. 

As a result of these workshops, students can gain more confidence on stage and off, form new friendships with children having similar interests, and improve their chances of being cast in our shows as well as other school and community productions. 

All workshops take place at Elgin Community College Visual and Performing Arts Center.  Information about upcoming workshops will be posted on this page with online registration for all classes.
